I guess, on the good news side, at least the confidence in scientists post covid hasn't fallen as much among Democrats as it has among Republicans.

And the public is a little better than half aware?
Sorry. The Democratic Party public is only slightly better than half aware?
This is a shocking failure to inform the public and/or shape public perception in the Trump age.

There has been a very public fight to dismantle and defund science across a wide range of fields, like climate:

And that fight has resulted in the intimidation of Universities and a disruption of studies, particularly with international students.

I wish I was the country in Ray-Bans, walking around shouting, "Hey, <insert country name>! Your drugs are too cheap and your army's too small! Loser. Wanna buy a plane?"

Don't have the rizz for it.

I can't help but imagine what the world could have been like if the 400 billion to a trillion dollars spent on buying graphics processors and building general purpose AI's without profit models, but with incredible energy costs, had been spent on electricity infrastructure and renewable generation.

I guess this is how post truth media reports post truth politics.
bsky.app/profile/thim...
You've got to put a post truth spokesman on screen, and hope that person won't flame out like Jeffrey Lord.
@hankgreen.bsky.social just published a video on truth and how republicans are comfortable asserting dominance over provable facts by just not acknowledging them and continuing to lie.

Could have avoided fascism with cheaper eggs.

Whenever there is a moment of crisis, you can depend on Susan Collins to be completely undependable.
And you can count on Sue to defend her vote in some public show.
Google "Susan Collins defends her vote".
She's a flake's flake.
Senators Speak Ahead Of Final Impeachment Vote; Collins Will Vote To Acquit
The Trump impeachment trial is adjourned, but lawmakers have time to make their own cases for and against removing the president. A final vote is expected on Wednesday afternoon.

I can't help but wonder what the world could have been like if the 2 trillion plus spent in Iraq and Afghanistan had been spent on electrification and renewable tech from 2003 to 2023.
Economists, can we afford any more delays?

Ps. Good article @noahqkaufman.bsky.social.
Sorry I got off on a rant.

Nor have they captured the effect of the solar and battery technology revolutions.

Climate scientists are putting forth their estimates:
bsky.app/profile/mich...

It's important that more economists start incorporating these insights into their models and making the case for climate action.
January 16, 2026 at 3:23 AM
...without taking into account the increasing frequency, intensity, and costs of weather extreme events.
And that's largely because the science behind that is new.
The mainstream economic models have not caught up with the state of the art climate models.
