West Country walking thinking about the big & small questions. Added angst, existential horror, & squirrels

PhD: Phil of Medicine: breath, anxiety. Phenomenologist. ARFID research.

Philosophy outreach -Truth & Friction: Public Philosophy Initiative.
Counterpoint to the doom/division. Noticing multiple interactions with people casually & professionally that are hopeful, fun, & engaging. Lengthy over brief & functional.

Anecdotal but wonder if proliferation of tech/isolation is pushing people to seek out positive encounters & connections more.

Recently having conversations with many different people where topics such as climate change denial, anti-intellectualism, ‘the Nazi’s were actually socialists’ are being mainstreamed. Then heard of Robin Ince departing the ‘Infinite Monkey Cage’.

Hammers home the Voltaire quote haunting me:

Oh wow, this just gets better and better for this breakthrough British talent. The man himself commenting on the music video. #jimlegxacy #06wayneRooney #waynerooney

Back to normal philosophy and nature postings, but I’m so happy for the kids!

I think I’ve seen this film & read the book.

Shaun Hutson’s mind is leaking into reality, & that’s actually less horrifying than the current climate of weaponised hate, mediocrity, and corruption of every institution & public discourse.

Please keep Spawn in the realms of fiction though, cheers.

interesting, maybe why the gardens are so unique & not overly landscaped/ symmetrical. Local knowledge went into creating it.

Pet cemetery, Dunster Castle. Favourite national trust gardens, truly breathtaking. #somerset

Lesley the vanda orchid survived. Hurray! Last time I forgot to bring him in, his stem snapped and I thought he was a goner. #orchids he’s survived the four horsemen of the orchid apocalypse: thrips, spider mites, mealy bugs, and a storm.

Cleo surveying damage - the last storm took part of a roof and lots of fences. Luckily just shredded leaves and snapped branches. And half a missing Polytunnel. Storms are becoming much more intense though, lots of oaks destroyed earlier this year, then the drought. Gardening for the future changes?

Autumnal delights! Vibrant colours, apples, pears, watermelons, harvest time.

Also great to be outside and away from the horror shows playing out infront of us.

Sticking some Pete Seeger on the headphones & logging off for sanity’s sake.

Huntspill from Gold Corner (aptly named), Somerset.

Another sunset walk at King Sedgemoor Drain, Somerset. The sky ran through the rainbow of colour changes, will a distinct crispness in the air.

Only one kingfisher spotted, and a secret tunnel in the hedge to…. a whole new (world) field.

Morning walk down King Sedgemoor Drain, Bawdrip.

Back home in Somerset with the beast of the Polden Hills. Too much excitement in the city for this oldie. (Me, not her).

Trying to work on a phenomenology of ARFID but writers block = pre-Halloween ghoulies in the form of the ‘critical voice’
