my theory is that, while 1900s framed fashion trends by decade, once we hit the 2000s, EVERYTHING from the 1900s became fair game. Maybe because the primary job of fashion shifted, signifying context instead of time. (Maybe also has to do w/ fast fashion, copying instead of innovating, etc...)
