Also enjoyed this guy: a representation of the Bridgwater Carnival brandishing a squib (a firework on a stick). He’d enjoy the Fallas festival in Valencia. 🎇

I was getting ads urging me to vote in the US election for months. Even long after the thing had happened.

It’s perfect comfort-listening

The accompanying audio book is brilliant too. Everything that happened ‘on screen’ plus loads of stuff behind the scenes, all narrated by Palin.

It's a pity as there are still lots of accounts of interest to me that post exclusively on there (not least local government, council and news organisations!!) as well as other creative accounts that are completely removed from all the bad stuff, though I don't want to be associated with it anymore.

Still something mildly irritating about the "#GoodBye". Why the hashtag? Why is the B capitalised? Anyway.

Accidentally added a bit of comedy jeopardy to the proceedings by dropping one of my 12 grapes on the floor immediately before the bells started chiming

What’s going on here

Oh, and the whole thing runs for 2 flipping hours and 16 minutes.

Scenes with Cameron Diaz and Jude Law tedious beyond extreme. Rufus Sewell playing A Total Cad™️. Shannyn Sossamon in it immediately dates it to the mid-2000s. Only mildly interesting subplot is KW meeting an old Hollywood screenwriter (who MUST have known ppl on the Blacklist but never mentions it).

Suspension of disbelief thrown out the window within 10 mins when Kate Winslet (an overworked London journalist*) is shown to live in a huge country cottage. Jack Black weirdly miscast doing his wackadoo thing but dialled down to about 5.

(* For the Telegraph! Terrible rightwing rag these days)

I’m imagining a scene exactly like the one in High Fidelity when Jack Black confronts the guy coming into the store looking for something embarrassing

It leaves you wondering how a British kid who sounds like he’s from Chelmsford can afford all that tech
