I’m in Bridgwater, Somerset for a couple of days for reasons I won’t go into. Had a bit of time to kill this morning so went for a wander round the town centre. Quite charming from certain angles.

My timeline is full of people saying “woah, loads of new followers!”. For the record, I’ve had approximately zero new followers in the past 4 days. So there.

Finally, unceremoniously deleted my X account just now. I'm surprised Elon hadn't changed this message to read "Go on, fuck off crying to Bluesky you pedo libtard" or some such.

It's that weird time of year where I'm seeing posts by other parents talking about taking the decorations down and the kids being back at school while here we still have our decorations up, it's still the holidays and we're effectively doing Christmas all over *again* tomorrow (for Three Kings Day).

New Year’s Eve in Spain: shove twelve grapes into your face at the stroke of midnight, tune into Antena 3, what is Cristina Pedroche wearing?! Every single year. 🥂

Found myself watching The Holiday (2006) last night. You know when you can tell a movie is going to be terrible simply because of the font they use for the title? This was a textbook example.

Very chuffed to have won a copy of this beautiful book by @mattfromlondon.bsky.social and @thisismikehall.com (plus accompanying print). Looking forward to regaling my family with nerdy nuggets of Londonness.

As usual it's occurred to me far too late into the process (19 days in) that I should have done a Bluesky 'advent calendar' like other artists on here. Oh well, maybe next year

As a fan of In Our Time AND Misha's 'How To Invent A Country' podcast, this is excellent news.
Things that will interest Bluesky; Misha Glenny, author of McMafia, replaces Melvyn Bragg as host of In Our Time.

ICYMI earlier - a thread of my somewhat mad, entirely unnecessary hike around the London Borough of Sutton earlier today (ow, my aching feet!) in which I visit all the interesting places within that borough that we feature in our book, The Boroughs of London.
Here we go then. As @diamondgeezer.bsky.social has decreed it, and for the amusement of ~3 people, I am bound for the great borough of Sutton.

Stand by for a reportage.

All right come on guys. At the moment (if I go through with this idea) I’m spending tomorrow travelling all the way from Stratford down to Sutton then back up to Enfield for the book thing by 6pm. My Oyster card’s gonna take a pasting.

Any votes for literally any other borough? 🙏🏻
💡 Publicity stunt idea:

I have a whole day to kill in London tomorrow. In homage to @diamondgeezer.bsky.social, my challenge is to visit all of the key locations we feature within a single borough in our book.

Which borough is up to you! Vote in the replies - the borough with most votes wins. Go!

So far it’s a choice between Sutton or Hillingdon. Both perfectly fine places to visit though rather inconveniently distant from the north London place I need to be at by 6pm...
