I've been thinking about a Forest Park rebuild that moves to the Altenheim Line through North Lawndale before rejoining at Austin after it leaves the median.

This would replace the worst highway-centric stations with new neighborhood nodes at brownfields like the Sears site.

The most basic snow removal at bus stops would take a couple of people a short time. Two slots matching front and rear bus doors and some space for folks to stand. Deploy via vehicle that runs up and down the bus corridor. Far from complete solution, but it’s a #PlowTheStreets beachhead.

Please post link to article you mention. Article I linked looked at the US data and did not find support for your hypothesis. Also, do manual transmissions predominate in the many countries with lower pedestrian death rates than the US like they do in the UK? If not, UK study may not be definitive.

While Houston gets a headline--"Despite glut of existing homes for sale, Houston leads nation in new-home permitting"--in the Chicago region governments (and alders) citing preservation of "community character" are arrayed against increasing the housing stock. chicago.suntimes.com/real-estate/...
