Last year, my hometown waived a by-law, allowing people to use their ATVs on the roads under the condition they were going directly to the trailway. Lasted a grand total of 1 month. Folks were literally going to the grocery story on their quads.

That happened 32 years and 3 CBA's ago. While I can appreciate how crazy trades were back in the day, that environment just doesn't exist anymore.

To get a return it has to be a team trying to enter the conversation of winning but missing that one piece to put them over the top with a boatload of picks and stud prospects that they have no plan for. Essentially, a unicorn or the 2017 Toronto Maple Leafs.

Huggy wants to play with his brothers in NJ. Jersey is currently entering a competitive window, so any 1st-round pick will ultimately be a low one, and executing a big shakeup of 4 or 5 players has real potential to compromise that window. The value isn't there for either VAN or NJ.

I mean *technically* it could still be done. The time and effort needed to navigate NTC's, M-NTC's, bonuses, cap space, one-way vs. two-way contracts and waivers exemptions just outweighs any benefit.

It's awful! And 99.9% of what I would want to watch on Prime is part of those stupid add-ons. I got my ER re-watch out of it so I guess I got my money's worth.
November 16, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Oh yeah, that's pushing after midnight here. Just in time for the randomness to start! Growing up, we had this rule in my house . If I woke up and Captain Canada was still on NTV, it was too early to get up and go back to bed. 🤣
November 16, 2025 at 11:23 PM
What irks me about Prime is that they'll advertise a movie or show, you go to watch it and...just kidding you have to buy another extension to watch it.

Donald Brashear is currently playing Senior Hockey here in NL! Repping the Royals 🤣🤣
November 16, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Newfoundlander here! You must be watching NTV incredibly late in the night (by Newfoundland time), that's when they put all kinds of random bizarre stuff on! Literally a mixed bag, from Captain Canada to Archival News to Geoff Stirling (founder), hosting a sitdown interview with Tina Turner in 1984

Voght was also a choice. The Guardians were projected to win the division. Voght literally did what was expected. Should've been Schneider or Wilson. I'll fully admit I'm looking at the MOY through a hockey/Jack Adams lens where context is considered.
November 14, 2025 at 3:13 PM
I find the MOY award to be just as egregious. A chimp could've managed the Brewers to 90+ wins this year. Meanwhile, Francona, with a very shallow and inconsistent Cincinatti Reds team, manages to sneak into the second wild card spot.

Until there's a change in ownership, it's going to be the same cycle:

Benning fired

Allvin & Rutherford hired to make it work with the group Benning inadvertently drafted.

Allvin & Rutherford fired. New GM "can make it work" with what was inadvertently drafted under Allvin & Rutherford.

It's brutal to see the level of inconsistent and uninspired play just trickle into every single part of the roster. It's only November. Between a Jets and Oilers turnaround and the Ducks, Mammoth, and Kraken entering the conversation, I'm ready to declare the Canucks as getting squeezed out.
November 10, 2025 at 1:27 PM
I had to do a double-take to figure out it was a basketball court! I just assumed it was a handball court. Brutal!
November 8, 2025 at 1:17 PM
They're basically a 75-win baseball team. Show a flash of momentum here or there, but it barely makes a dent in the consistently poor and uninspired play that happens 98% of the time.

Chad Pennington 2.0 incoming!

Noel's always been pretty coy about the song. Tony McCarroll covers the catalyst of Talk Tonight in his book. Would definitely recommend it if you haven't already!
November 3, 2025 at 12:40 AM
It's hard to pick a favorite because there's just so much quality. Talk Tonight wins it for me. Hands down, one of the best songs that Noel has written and sings.

Don't be stepping out on Uncle Ben like that!

AM: All bundled up for a day in the country with pop to check the rabbit snares and start on the wood for the winter.

PM: Ed Gein hallowen costume.
