@quinnypig.bsky.social we have an aws easter egg hunt to try to locate the invoices for three separate yearly charges on the order of $1.6k, $1.1k and $1.9k. Nothing shows up in the billing console under "Bills > Invoices" for the month. Nothing on Route53, ACM or Marketplace. What could this be?

@scientificdiscovery.dev re: birth seasonality, in Norway it's common for people to plan birth month according to when they are guaranteed a kindergarten spot. Sept to Nov have guaranteed from 12mo, from December to Aug it decreases monthly from 20mo to 12mo. Found data from 1966 to 2014 visualized.

Was curious about this since anecdotally I always heard that people grow more liberal. From Scientific Discovery by Saloni Dattani, always a blast (low frequency, it’s lovely).
Screenshot from the newsletter that reads: Do people become more conservative as they get older? Older people are more likely to agree with conservative ideas, and say they’re conservative. But if you track a cohort of people over time, at least in the US, they tend to become more liberal as they grow older. How can these both be true? Allen Downey explains this seeming-paradox. If people become more liberal with age, but younger cohorts are even more liberal than them, then older people appear more conservative as they age, relatively speaking. A chart shows trend lines for each generational cohort, where they generally decline over time but each generation starts off at a lower level of conservativeness.

The Oseberg Viking ship is among the best preserved artifacts from the Viking age, buried in ~834. Initially thought mostly decorative due to early replicas sinking, the latest attempt showed that the design worked and that the Vikings may have transitioned to sails as early as the 700s.

First time I noticed the copyright section in the netcat manpages. Always ski in control! Also no GPL or Berkeley nonsense.
