Worried about the Insurrection Act? Concerned about how it might further erode immigrant rights?

Indivisible ATL is putting together a working group for how we can respond and support the immigrant community in and around ATL. DM if you'd like to help.
What to do if the Insurrection Act is invoked
With the Insurrection Act looming, now is the time to learn how it might unfold and the strategic ways to respond.

Turned a well-loved Portal 2 t-shirt into an iron-on patch using Heat-n-Bond and embellished it with zig-zag stitching and bias tape to create this custom shirt that's been living rent-free in my head for years. Everything in this upcycle I already had, except for the orange bias tape

Bottom sleeve is topstitching by hand using a backstitch with topstitching thread & top sleeve is topstitching by machine with polyester thread. Look at that difference! Hand stitching takes more time, but it doesn't get lost in the fabric.

70s Butterick Betsey Johnson swing coat progress! Felt really motivated tonight and got the center back seam and shoulders sewn together. These first seams were 2-ish years in the making

This post makes me glad I'm getting more involved in my American Sewing Guild chapter this year 😊
I wrote about why 2025 is the year of the craft night! With references to craft & political action, polymer clay pickles, and the cringey legacy of the pussyhat. Be a pal and give it a read?

I'm happy that so many agree that what's going on at the Federal level in the US is bad. But, at this point, it just feels like everyone is yelling at each other about how bad things are. We don't need to keep alerting each other..We. Need. A. Plan.

Can we finally turn this anger into organizing?

Spending this weekend conquering my fears of making my first coat and cutting into #mood boiled wool and viscose fabric. Ran into some pattern layout issues last night, but solved it this morning. (more info on this project in alt text)

February is the real beginning of my 2025.

About to steam and cut into this amaranth purple boiled wool (looks red in pictures) for a swing jacket. Wish me luck as it's my first time using this fabric! #sewingsaturday #sewsky

I've found so many talented sewists through this list! Let's build up the sewing community here 😊🪡🧵
I made a starter pack for other sewists migrating over from meta-based apps. Includes home sewists, independent pattern designers, and some fabric merchants. If you have adds, please share them with me so we can grow the list!

Did some new year decluttering earlier this month and created a little display of my favorite sewing books, my grandmother's sewing music box, and my sewing resolutions. Trying to build a more consistent sewing practice this year, and seeing my resolutions when I first walk in is a good reminder.

Second snow day in two weeks! It's crazy to live my whole life in a place that doesn't get a proper winter, to suddenly be hit with snow so often. These two photos were taken just under two hours apart.

Spent a well-earned Saturday tracing, adjusting and cutting out pattern pieces. Trying out working on multiple projects at the same time, and taking a less rigid approach to sewing. Both the swing jacket and dress have a March deadline to finish, so we'll see what happens 😁

@rosamundi.bsky.social Hello! It looks like the Sewing feed is having an issue with populating posts. The error message Bluesky gave me was "upstream service unreachable." Thought I'd let you know. Have a good day!

I've been digging the push back from "year in review" posts on social media lately. I do see that pressure to tie everything into a neat little bow & get your next year's goals lined up as soon as Jan. 1 rolls around. Sometimes your goals take longer than 12 months to achieve, and that's okay

Some WIP of my Marcille cosplay! I wanted to add some fun little extra details since it was such a simple costume to make. But it ended up being one of my favorites I made for 2024! 💙

I patterned everything on my own using a mix of draping, bodice blocking, and close enough-ing hehehe

A little year wrap up! Only made a few things because 2024 ended up being much busier than I expected. Left photo is Mood Gingko Shirt I finished in June and right is Sew Sweetness Tower Crossbody Purse I finished in Feb. This purse has been my go-to all year and still holds up!

I've been noticing a ton of AI in Google and Pinterest this past year. It makes finding good inspiration images for outfit and character designs annoyingly difficult. Most results are either AI generated, a fast fashion and, or both.
How to filter out AI Images in Google Image Search.

Sharing this with my students so I figured I'd also share it with everyone here.

Hopefully this image is still relevant given Google's changes. Save this on your computer or phone and refer to it as needed.

Just got my vintage patterns from Backroom Finds! Top pattern printed in 1977, right in 1969 and left in 1957. I know exactly what fabrics in my stash I'm going to use for two of these patterns. Will 2025 be the year I finally tackle fitting pants?
