we have a tiny apartment so i have my birthday gathering… at a bar with a large outdoor area

because those don’t seem to exist anywhere affordable outside of reserving some outdoor beer garden tables! and then I’m the only one at my own birthday not drinking 🙃

it’s just so weird how so many people cannot envision that someone doesn’t drink, or does not WANT to, and i wish i understood why! our society is very alcohol-forward

And some of us just can’t get past the smell even though we’d like to! i get the weirdest looks when I tell people, like it’s an unheard of possibility to choose to not drink even if i “can”
