This has me down a rabbit hole, and it turns out there are these 4" CRT modules you can get for about $30. Gives me the itch to make something with one.

It blew my mind when I came to the US, one of the most capitalist countries in the world, and found out that I didn't have any choice about my electricity supplier.
But I guess it was a lesson about how capitalism doesn't guarantee a free market.

Out of an abundance of caution I became a US citizen last year, and I'm glad I did.
Also, I carry my US Passport card with me any time I leave the house.

Except when something hard accidentally falls down there and it makes all these banging noises when you turn it on, and you end up using a torch and some tongs to pick out broken bits of plastic from it

It means you don't have to do that thing after washing up where you pick up the guard that fits in the plughole with all the bits of food that were a bit too big to go down the sink and walk to the bin with your other hand under to catch the drips

It is interesting reading the replies about how much stuff people put down them. I've only had one for a few years, but we only put stuff down there that's too sloshy for the compost.
