The Dodgers getting to the World Series is the perfect metaphor for our times. Billionaires buy up all the capital, while penalties to keep them in check (the luxury tax) make no difference, they cook the books to lower costs (deferred payments), and most of the world hates them.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and lived for baseball. Still do. Played little league, travel, and high school, almost always at 2nd base. Ryne Sandberg was such a huge influence on me. RIP to a true legend.

This argument is so ridiculously disingenuous. Masks were recommended and mandated in some places in 2020 to help stop spreading a disease that killed over 1 million people.

Cutting health care for millions is bad. Slashing food assistance for children is very bad.
But throwing billions of dollars to a militarized gestapo to kidnap and imprison people they don’t like is an abomination. We’re not prepared for what will come.

Got up at 5am to watch Cubs opener from Tokyo. Imanaga was at 69 pitches through 4 with no runs, no hits, 4 walks. He gets taken out of the game and bullpen immediately gives up 3. What’s the point of spring training if starting pitchers aren’t ready to go at least 80-85 pitches by opening day?

I'm sorry, but "they took over the whole federal payments system, fired the career staff, and won't let anybody see what they're doing" is not a situation in which you wait for more information. It's a situation in which you assume the worst. There's no explanation for it other than rampant crimes.
