I didn't make a ship a day for #shiptember but I enjoyed making these. The more polished ones are blender + krita, the physical media ones are a mixture of pen & ink, marker, gouache and watercolour (consistency wasn't my goal :D) .

the other day, I made this thing to do cube mapping using blender geometry nodes:

In code this would be something like

uv = ax > ay ? vec2(x, ay > az ? z : y) : vec2(ax > az ? x : z, y)

and would have taken me a lot less time to write.

Many years ago, back in Tokyo I was on the team that used a GSCube (basically a big noisy prototype box from Sony with a bunch of PS2s in parallel ) to render scenes from that in Realtime, way back in 1999. Sony gave us the raw data and it was used for a display at Siggraph.
