Wow, those stats are pretty eye opening. It’s crazy how much our daily drink choices can impact long term health. Definitely makes me think twice about sugary drinks. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This semester helped me understand how deeply nutrition influences health and healing. I want to use this knowledge to guide patients toward simple, manageable changes that support their goals and make a real difference in their day to day well being. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Exactly! Most trendy diets are more about selling a story than science. It’s wild how much marketing drives what we think is healthy. This definitely shows why it’s important to look at the evidence, not just the hype. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
we act like most diets are invented in labs, but they’re mostly invented in marketing meetings.

it’s important to remember that every mass marketed diet was invented by a normal human being (who wanted to sell you a diet).

This is great! It shows that eating to lower cholesterol doesn’t mean giving up tasty food. Oats, avocados, and nuts are all delicious ways to take care of your heart without feeling restricted. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This article is very helpful to teach kids healthy eating. It breaks down essential nutrients, gives age appropriate food tips, and explains what to cut back on. It's published by the American Heart Association which is very trustworthy! www.heart.org/en/healthy-l... #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Love this! I’ve been trying to pay more attention to simple ingredients, and keeping peanut butter basic makes it feel way healthier while still satisfying my sweet and savory cravings. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Peanut butter is more than just for sandwiches. It offers protein, healthy fats, and key nutrients that support energy and fullness. Look for simple ingredient lists, like peanuts and salt, and enjoy it in reasonable portions. #RealWorldNutrition

Tom Carroll’s story showed me that successful weight management comes from small, consistent behavior changes, not extreme diets. As a future healthcare provider, I want to help clients develop realistic, sustainable strategies while being supportive and nonjudgmental. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Exactly!! It’s all about balance fruit has so many benefits that get overlooked when people just focus on the sugar. Love the reminder that both fruit and ice cream can have a place in a healthy diet #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
"Omg fruit is full of sugar and so bad for you!" Have you considered that it's also full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber? And a fun fact is that our bodies need these nutrients so no, it's not the same as eating something like ice cream. Not that anything is wrong with ice cream.

Something that stuck with me from James Corden’s video is that obesity isn’t just about eating too much, it can be tied to hormones like leptin that affect hunger and fullness. It reminded me how important it is to approach health with more understanding. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I absolutely agree! No child should ever go hungry. It’s heartbreaking that this is still an issue awareness. Action are the first steps to real change. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
No kid in America should not have enough food. If we want to feed kids we have to know how many kids need to be fed. Ignoring and avoiding such an important issue will only make it worse.

Spread the word and call your legislators. We can make a difference and keep kids fed.

A barrier I relate to is how expensive healthy food is. On a student budget, it’s tough to afford fresh meals, so I usually grab cheaper fast food, even though I want to eat better. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I love that perspective! Eating healthy really is about balance, nourishing your body while still enjoying the foods and moments that make you happy. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Food is fuel, but it’s also part of traditions and memories. Eating well doesn’t mean giving that up. It’s about finding a way to eat that supports your health and still fits real life. #RealWorldNutrition #HealthyEating

I read an article from the Mayo Clinic about magnesium glycinate. It supposedly helps with muscle relaxation, better sleep, and is a stress reliever. I’m interested in trying it to see if it really works. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social mcpress.mayoclinic.org/nutrition-fi...

That’s so true! A lot of people think vegetarian diets are one size fits all, but your needs really do change over time. I like how this focuses on balance and planning, it makes the lifestyle more sustainable and healthy long term.

I’d recommend the Mayo Clinic’s Healthy Diets article. It gives simple, science based tips for eating better like adding fruits, veggies, and whole grains. It’s reliable since it’s written by medical experts and focuses on realistic, long term healthy habits. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I researched intermittent fasting, where you cycle between eating and fasting periods. It seems to help with weight loss and metabolism, but it can be challenging to stick to. I’m curious about the long term effects and overall health in the long term. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Yess! I’ve noticed when I focus on how food makes me feel instead of just following rules, I enjoy eating way more and don’t stress about it as much @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
There’s a difference in choosing foods that make you feel physically better versus following rules because you “should”.

One of my go-to meals is tacos! To make them more nutrient dense, I like to use corn tortillas instead of flour, choose lean ground turkey or beans for protein, and load them up with fresh veggies like peppers, lettuce, and salsa. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Yes! This is such an important reminder. Food is fuel and a basic need, not something we should feel like we have to ‘earn.’ I think a lot of people struggle with this mindset, so thank you for sharing it. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
PSA: You don’t have to earn your food. It’s not a reward for being “good” or punishment for being “bad.”

In my 24 hour recall, I ate chicken tenders and fries, chicken noodle soup, beef and cheese empanada, and spicy noodles. It was easy to track my meals since my meals were simple. What surprised me the most is how little vegetable and fruit intake I get. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Yes! I always keep my phone on Do not disturb so I can take a break from social media and notifications as I go through my day. It helps to just focus on myself and what I'm doing. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

A fun fact I learned is that 97% of Americans get enough protein daily but only less than 3% of Americans get the right amount of fiber. In fact, we only get about half the minimum amount of fiber we need, making fiber a nutrients of concern. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Yess!! Some of my favorite memories is traveling with my friends and family just to try and experience different foods.
“food is just fuel” is a popular saying in the fitness world. and sure, food can be fuel, but it can also be so much more.

food can be a way to connect with other people, cultures, and our memories.

you don’t have to moralize foods or punish yourself for enjoying them.
