This tradition along with gender reveal parties were created in our lifetimes. We have the agency to reject them in our own lives as well as the responsibility to minimize the impact on future generations.

It is so worrying. I was referred to see someone who had associate in their title. I asked my GP if they would be a doctor and even they couldn't tell! Apparently, associate in this context could mean a junior doctor type person or a physician associate. Not good for trust...

I once cold-called a librarian in the US to see if she'd send me a couple of photos of a book WORLDCAT said they had, because I was having a fight with the author, and she had those images emailed over to me before I could even explain myself.
