I find this really fascinating, because it's sort of the same thing in the NFL, where "should a hail mary count as an interception" is a similar thing, and "should an empty net goal count the same" in the NHL is another one.

we've had that issue too over here in Statcast land, with a play like ..
this is fuckin bullshit. if the miss doesn't count towards individual stats the points shouldn't either. this is a classic example of capital socializing loss and privatizing profit!! www.espn.com/nba/story/_/...
Buzzer-heave misses won't affect NBA player stats
The NBA will implement a change for the 2025-26 season with unsuccessful end-of-period heaves being recorded as a missed attempt for the team, not the player.

It's like they think framing it as "local law enforcement" vs. "federal troops" is a clear and winning argument.

How about: "Donald Trump is drunk with power, he's a dictator just like he said he would be, he's sending the FBI to attack citizens -- he's a tyrant and we have to stop him!"
Jeffries on Trump planning a military crackdown in Chicago: "We should continue to support local law enforcement and not simply allow Donald Trump to play games with the lives of the American people as part of his effort to manufacture a crisis and create a distraction because he's deeply unpopular"
