it makes me so sad 😭 they’re such lovely people and it’s such a nice space, and there just seems to have been so many local system failures that have allowed this to happen. The last month or so the door has had to be locked and manually opened to let customers in and out 💔

yeah that’s why she’s closed - she didn’t feel like she could protect her staff/customers with the situation ongoing 💔

and he’s only one of the three 😭 honestly she’s put up with so much crap over the last year and a half it’s ridiculous. I’m so sad to have them go though - where will I wander to for my afternoon coffee on a good day now?!?! 😭😭😭

it just seems to be an issue of mental health services/police/CPS/probation etc are all playing hot potato with these guys so in the meantime they’re just allowed to wander round the local area destroying things in shops and saying they’re there to ‘keep scaring women’ with no pushback

its frustrating because the latest guy has been arrested for other local crimes but was given a 12 month suspended sentence, so he was instantly back in the shop threatening to beat them & pretending to pull a weapon & apparently no one can do anything other than refer it to probationary services 🙃

i’d seen the film but never read the book, & while i think the pace may be too slow for some, the build-up is beautifully done. i can see a thread here between Lindsay & Shirley Jackson, re: the subtle uncanniness & societal violence
