I'd call it arrogance as well. Reasonable to expect when you've got powerful government officials involved.

It's unpopular policy and is easily rejected by the public and ample fodder for political foes. They need to develop sensible, realistic policy to be taken seriously. Right now LAB would rather work with NZ1st despite everything WP and SJ have said about them.

Is this the result of the 'no rates rises' cost cutting policies? Routine maintenance is out the door.
We have plenty of drains and gutters around Manurewa that go months without been cleared, unless we get out and do it ourselves. More failed policy by the vote-grabbers!

Or this one. This guy is the partner to a niece of mine. He is currently in an induced coma after suffering an extreme asthma attack last week (he never had asthma). He only became a father 9 months ago, and his partner is having to take indefinite leave from work to be with him in hospital.
Fighting for life, one breath at a time
Standing with Josh and his family as he fights for recovery after a sudden asthma attack.

Because Aucklanders are dummies - we'll drive everywhere and then moan about every other 'idiot' on the road creating traffic.

Plus we are also dummies because we all want to be the first to do something, moan about the amount of people, and then walk away feeling underwhelmed because of it all

Because Seymour would walk away in a huff and the Nats haven't yet put the final feathers on their nest.

I don't think Seymour's reaction is as much a factor in this as the government MPs personal financial situation. Agreeing to pass this bill ensured they could make changes to other legislation that improved their, their families and friends private sector investments using taxpayers $$$$
