CHILDREN and their families spent 12 HOURS today in Congress

meeting (and sometimes ~stalking~ (metaphorically) representatives in order to tell them, face to face, exactly why they must vote NO MEDICAID CUTS

can you kick in a few bucks to cover their costs?

and share this link far & wide??

People in wheelchairs are getting arrested right now in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. They showed up to tell Congress not to cut their Medicaid, because they cant afford health care without it. If you look closely you can see the zip ties on their hands. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid

A doctor in France administered lethal doses of morphine plus a benzodiazepine to a disabled patient who had NOT requested euthanasia.

This is not only eugenics, it’s murder.

And just like that, overnight our lab loses two 5-year R01s (both of which just started) because of the new NIH rules about foreign co-PIs. This is so painful.

Hey! Are you an American considering a PhD or a postdoc, and the funding / academic situation just went absolutely bonkers?

Canada's federal funding awards just added eligibility for international applicants if at Cdn institutions.

NSERC - Latest News - Launch of the new Harmonized Tri-agency Scholarship and Fellowship programs
As announced in Budget 2024, the scholarship and fellowship programs administered by the three federal research funding agencies – the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) – have been streamlined into a new harmonized talent program called the Canada Research Training Awards Suite (CRTAS) that will open for applications in summer 2025.

It doesn't matter if the school district intended to violate her rights under the ADA and Section 504, that's missing the point. What matters is making sure children like Ava actually receive an education www.disabilityscoop.com/2025/01/27/s...

NIH’s Notice of NIH interest in Diversity (NOT-OD-20-031) has been removed from the NIH website.

This was issued in 2019 and expanded its definition of diversity and included: underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities, disability, disadvantaged background (eg, rural/low-income), women.

If you would like to see how much economic activity and grants and how many people are employed through NIH in your state, just use this handy website.

And then contact your Congressional Rep and tell them to prioritize NIH. www.unitedformedicalresearch.org/nih-in-your-...

I can imagine the deep concern my research colleagues are feeling given the current pause at NIH *and* at the same time Iinvite us to consider how we want to transform these institutions and structures for the future so they benefit everyone. For instance, only 1% of NIH R01 recipients are Black.

The antidote for despair is action ❤️

* Dial (202) 224-3121
* Enter zip code
* Leave voicemail
* Say “My name is ___, I’m a constituent in [town]. (If clinician/scientist, say so)

“The NIH freeze harms research and patients and must be lifted immediately.”

Be brief. Staffers tally all calls. Go! ✅
NIH funding supports the vast majority of all biomedical research in the United States. Virtually every advance in American medicine and biological science comes from NIH. This is a blow against American science.

Call Congress, 202-224-3121.
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
