All true. Cynic in me says another reason couldn't last was those at the top of hierarchies don't cope well with this. I remember a few times when someone with a big job stumbled into a discussion and seemed genuinely angry when people wouldn't defer to them in the way I assume they were used to.

Same story in lots of schools - huge annual costs to maintain buildings that will never be owned by the schools themselves.

We need something to transform our outcomes - our teaching is so much better than 12 months ago but a lot of these kids had a poor KS3 and that’s on us.

Just as telling is that an hour later he was saying on Times radio that what she said was racist. I am sure he hadnt actually changed or formed an opinion but rather been told to say something different.
