The 1st of December is an interesting day in my career. For one thing, it's when it began. 27 years ago today I started in the IT department at Doctors' Hospital of Staten Island. I had been a registrar in the ED, but IT had an opening and my boss suggested I could be a good fit.

I'm two days behind on sharing this, but here's a bright spot amongst the doomscrolling: new tree!

The tree in front of our house had to be removed a few years ago lest it die and fall over. A new one was finally planted on the 11th.

I'm really looking forward to watching this grow over the years.

Ollie always loves to wander across my desk when my camera is on. At least my coworkers were highly amused.
I, a middle-aged white guy with dark hair and spectacles, am on-camera for a meeting. My cat, Ollie, a grey domestic short hair, has walked past me. While most of him is obscured by the virtual background effects, his tail is visibly flapping in front of my face. The aforementioned background is a photo I took of Patterson Park on a misty night. Winter had not yet switched to spring, so the trees are bare.

My favorite comparison example involves Jackman on magazine covers.
- Marketed towards men: ripped and snarling
- Marketed towards women: relaxed and in a nice sweater.

Time to donate blood!

Anyone ever have a coworker who always seems to be hanging out at your desk and gnawing on your arm?
Me, a middle-aged, bespectacled white guy with dark hair that's been growing out a little, some facial stubble, headset, and blue t-shirt. I'm sitting my desk and using a virtual background of the Star Trek holodeck's "default" black-and-yellow-grid appearance. Sitting in my arms is Ollie, a gray cat who's about 6 years old. His collar has a bell and a blue-gray bow tie. He is the aforementioned "coworker." About ten minutes before this photo he was a little excited and gnawing on my arm.

I didn't listen to much at the time, so I didn't recognize the lyrics. Seeing song titles mentioned in the thread, I did a quick search to bring me up to speed. Alas, I initially forgot to use the "-ai" qualifier and saw this doozy. Oh, yeah, AI summaries are *so* reliable.
Google AI summary at the top of a search result: "Anna Begins" and "Sullivan Street" are both songs by the band Counting Crows. Both songs are featured on the Counting Crows album, Round Here. At this point, reader, I interject so clarify that the album was actually called August and Everything After. "Round Here" is the first track on said album.
