Over 900 anti-trans bills have been introduced this year, mostly targeting kids—even though trans youth are a tiny part of the population. This week’s Okay, But Why looks at how these attacks on trans youth are used to distract, divide, and gain political power.
Okay, But Why Are So Many People Talking About Trans Kids?
There’s a lot to be stressed about right now. We’re seeing the dissolution of our democratic norms and ideals before our very eyes. But extremists don’t want us thinking about democracy. They want us thinking about the 5 trans kids who wanted to play soccer this year. Just so far this year, over 900 anti-trans bills are under consideration across the country. The majority apply to kids, particularly in school. Some of the laws are frankly terrifying, like one in Florida that requires genital inspections for any kid suspected of being trans. Genital. Inspections. Of Kids. But even anti-trans organizations can’t find more than five trans kids playing on girls’ sports teams. And at the college level, NCAA president Charlie Baker said that there are fewer than 10 transgender athletes who currently compete in college sports. That’s less than 0.002 percent! There’s a lot of well-meaning concern for trans kids...

This isn't terrifying at all... (also, without sarcasm, this isn't surprising at all)

Reuters talks about this as a possibility, but at least one Ukrainian family we know here in Tennessee has already received a letter from Homeland Security saying they will be deported in April. It's cruel, it's nonsensical, and it's all for show for his buddy Vlad. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...
Exclusive: Trump plans to revoke legal status of Ukrainians who fled to US, sources say
U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is planning to revoke temporary legal status for some 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia, a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter said, potentially putting them on a fast-track to deportation.

Mr. Moxon continues to be a truth filter, helping us see the "observable truths" while eliminating the baffling shit-storm of obfuscations thrown at us all day, every day.
I wrote about the clarifying power of simple declarations of basic truths and decency; how they show us what we stand for, and how they expose what indecent liars stand for.

Of all days, today? This is the day this man is sworn in? This man who enlivens, emboldens, and relies on those among us who believe white, Christian, and male are the only common traits of actual valuable people, today becomes President. On #MartinLutherKing day. A gut punch from a cruel universe.

I’ve tried to articulate this but Dave hits it square on.
I don't want to get all "buckle up" but there are two things I see a lot that are kind of related and I want to comment on them.

So, my first post here should be important, right? Timeless. Thoughtful. Here goes. We got a new dog. Charlie. He’s amazing and only 6 months old. Our older dog, Becks, is…..tolerating him. She thinks he’s ok, but wonders when he’s going home. But Charlie is here to stay.
