My thoughts and opinions are my own and do not reflect any other individuals or organizations.

I mostly post about my journey becoming a semi-serious Disney Lorcana player. Previously played Modern/Legacy MTG
I don't think I'll have all the card I need for tomorrow's Infinity Free Play, but keep an eye out for some theory crafting in the new year as I consider this!

I think the colors are good. Purple gives us more combo-esque cards and blue lets us ramp for high costs. I'm very interested in Monstro with We Know the Way, but without yellow, I don't get Alan-a-Dale. Jafar - Striking Illusionist looks interesting, so I'll probably start there.

I do think comboing to win in a control deck is good, but the win needs to be more immediate. I also think the combo pieces need to be a little more functional on their own. Cauldron is fine (not great) but Bruno is a bit of a stinker on his own. So, how do I do this?

The biggest lesson here has to be one thing: I tend to lose most when I focus too much on assembling the combo, or if they can easily remove the combo. So where does that leave me? I think I need to take a long look at the deck and decide if this combo is the right one.

G3 was not as close as I established the combo, but he removed it fairly quickly and milled me out before I could establish much more of a board. This left me at 2-1, good enough for a 6th place finish in an event capped at 3 rounds.

He rolled Mill, but I didn't realize it at first as I forgot what colors his Mill deck was (he hadn't mentioned the other deck being 🔴🟣, just that it was a more standard deck). I won a quick G1 as he struggled to draw anything. G2 was close as I played control, but he milled me before I could combo.

Rd 3 was an opp I've played a few times before and know to be a great player. He wasn't really taking the Swiss tourney aspect seriously and had me roll dice to see which deck he would play, 🔴🟣 or Mill. I honestly have no idea what he had played up to that point, so I rolled hoping not to play Mill.

G3 he played more aggressively but did not play around Spooky Sight. I cleared the board once, and he rebuilt as I dug for things, but I won before he could fully establish anything.

G2 he didn't play aggressively, which left the door open for me to control the board and win with the combo. He had never seen Spooky Sight before and was surprised when I used it to clean up once he started to establish a board before I comboed to an easy win.

Rd 2 I was paired against a guy who acted like he wasn't good/couldn't win a game (not sure if he knew I knew his record from the swiss pairings or if he genuinely felt this way). I lost a quick G1 after assembling the combo too late and getting run over.

G3, we had 7 min left on the clock. Opp asked to scoop G3 to me to see how his son was doing w/his own brew (fair enough) then sat and talked with me about the Infinity format for 5 min. After talking, I got more of a sense that he just didn't like control decks and expected easy wins with 🔵⚪...🤷‍♂️
December 26, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Rd 1 had me playing the same person who was on Core 🔵⚪ a few weeks prior. He seems like a pretty okay player, but admitted he had never played the infinity version before. G1 I never saw the combo and played a typical control deck to a close finish. G2 was a blowout after I assembled the combo.

Lorcana League 12/13/25
6th place, Infinity Weekend Swiss, 23 players
Deck: Blurple Top

Rd 1 vs 🔵⚪ Items 💀👑(👑)
Rd 2 vs 🟢🟡 Aggro 💀👑👑
Rd 3 vs 🔵⚪ Mill 👑💀💀

Overall, really happy with the deck, but even more happy with the information on the format that will shape where I want to go from here.

Been thinking about these games and realized I didn't discuss my misplays. Mostly, I need to make sure I'm sequencing things appropriately. Too many times I played card draw before activating Cauldron, and I think I could have dug more efficiently if I sequenced correctly. Still room to improve!

The idea with eternal formats is that a deck can mostly stay the same, as the power level is expected to be higher than a rotating format. This means it takes a special card to replace something already in a deck. From here, we just keep an eye out for more efficient cards doing what we already do.

Overall, I'm not sure I'll change this list before the Whole New World Infinity event that happens in two weeks. Something would have to really come out of nowhere to replace a Demona, and I think the numbers I've landed on are right where they need to be. This is why I love eternal formats though..

I could replace a big Elsa with the 4th Hades, but I think only having one big Elsa is wrong. I've seen her just enough in the past two Infinity events to believe you need her at times, but haven't seen her so much that there are too many. Cutting one would make me worry about not seeing her enough.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
I wish one Demona could be a 4th Hades, as I think he is the best overall card in the deck. Being at 12 uninkables right now seems like the sweet spot though, and I'm not willing to budge on that yet. I've considered the new 5-drop Hades, but I think Demona's ability to exert everything is better.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
1-drop on T4 was another Rafiki, so T5 saw me double challenge the opp only 4+ drop with the Rafikis, play Spooky sight to wipe the rest of their board and simply quest for a turn with Bruno before dropping ink+Cauldron+small Elsa T6 to keep their board clear and start the Bruno engine.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Remember, you can win without the Bruno engine. You have to prioritize controlling the board. Rd 3 found me ramping on T2 while holding Bruno and Cauldron, but I didn't play Bruno until my actual T4, as Into the Unknown+Rafiki was better on T3. This allowed me to Bruno+1-drop T4 to stay in control.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
After playing your first Spooky Sight, prioritize finding high cost cards like Elsa (both), Demona, and Hades. Hades is likely the most important, as he continues the removal train. Elsas are next as they can act as removal or tempo. Demona is better after you've rebuilt, or if you are low on cards.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
If you're looking for a T5-6 Spooky Sight, I suggest you challenge to slow the opp down. This also encourages them to play into it more, as you look like you are struggling to keep their side under control. An early Bruno may change this, as you can prioritize digging for Spooky Sight with Bruno.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
You want to prioritize Sail as your T2 ramp if possible, as you can also play a Rafiki/Develop on the same turn after your second ink. Tipo may be slightly better against aggro if you have T3 Merlin, and it lets you get rid of uninkable high costs early.
