This is also why people are so drawn to the “don’t spend money this weekend” astroturf ass boycotts. They’re designed to be easy and to fail.

You have to be able to build and demonstrate collective power first if you want to take on Spotify AND Apple. Boycotts work when they’re clear and targeted, and they fail when people give up on them because they’re not addressing imperialism as a whole.

Boycotts have to have ultimatums, demands, material consequences! Not moral purity or timeframes. This is, I think, just a lack of organization that has too many people missing the forest for the trees.
