I will never understand people who hated literature reviews in undergrad/grad school. That’s the fun part! That’s where the first learning happens!

The first time I watched Twin Peaks earlier this year I didn’t like it. It pissed me off. For the last two weeks I’ve been dreaming of the weird comfort of this show. Life is hard, messy, and complicated. So I’m starting it again. Maybe I needed to be a different me to appreciate it. Here we go.

I have recommended the MaddAddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood to anyone who’ll listen. And who actually picks it up and reads it and is currently on the second book? None other than my wonderful psychiatrist. He may be the only person who takes my recommendations and I’m not mad about it.

LGBTQIA+ affirming therapists are doing the bare minimum. We need LGBTQIA+ competent therapists. No they are not the same thing. And yes, affirming therapists cause harm without realizing it because they don’t have the training, experience, and expertise.

Parents need to stop posting about their teenage kids’ mental illnesses. I’m sorry, I know they are your kids and you’re struggling, but this isn’t how you be an ally. You are actively taking away their voice, autonomy, agency, and privacy. You aren’t advocating the way you think you are. Stop.

Up until last Sunday l hadn’t read a book since 2019. I do not understand why I don’t like pleasure reading. I read plenty in grad school for my classes and loved that. In any case I’ve read two books in the last week. I’m going to ride this reading wave not sure when it will return.

Sanism is a tool of white supremacy. If someone is comfortable with being blatantly and overtly sanist, they will have no problem being racist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist if it benefits them. Even if they claim they are a leftist.

The chronically online performative activists who think all activism needs and should take place on the internet need to touch grass. Like real sustainable, change making moves are not happening on Meta or Tik Tok, and for SAFETY shouldn’t.

So I’m watching the first episode of Good American Family. This is so abysmally bad. Mark Duplass can’t save this. Ellen Pompeo can’t save this. The writing is bad. The direction is bad. The actress playing Natalia is so off. This should not have been made. Ugh.
