(The class itself is no problem. I'm not an activist in the classroom. It's about the philosophical issues that are involved in even trying to have a coherent conversation on the topic of gender. It's mostly philosophy of science, mind, and language. But 'gender' is in the public course schedule.)

If they gun down a crowd and are unapologetic and get away with it, then we'll be in "mass civil conflict". Or if thousands of people who are not being targeted become internal refugees. They're doing the worst things, but not at scale. And they're morons; they might not figure it out.

I was told not to teach a class on the intellectual histories of Zionism and Anti-Zionism next year - not because they doubted I could teach it fairly, but because it would attract too many politicians scrutinizing the syllabus.

A society where that is a valid fear is no longer fully democratic.
