There is a Toronto joke about homes, and that is put the largest building possible on your lot as it is too cold to go outside in the winter and too hot in the summer!

Ontario is quite large (bigger than France and Spain combined) so there is quite a bit of difference in weather.

Most of the population is in the south (near Toronto) and there it can be quite warm, with at times high humidity which can make it brutal.

Typically between 20 C and 30 C

Looking from approx. the area where the cenotaph is now towards the Main Street Bridge.

I believe the Scott Opera House was the vantage point? Hotel on the left is gone (Queen's Arms Hotel). Church is still there as well as building across from the church just before the bridge
