I've been missing getting out and about on weekends, so I've been thinking about National Trust membership, in the hope I may make a bit more use of my weekends.

Weekends used to be for adventures, which I've not had for a while.

Yes, I will still be ghost hunting!

Sunday mornings (along with any other time of day) were made for Betty Davis.

Such an underrated, sexy and funky album! Although only releasing 5 albums, she remains one of the most great breaking funk artists of the 70s and 80s.

Good morning, from the 3 minutes it was actually dry on my morning walk.

Owing to the fact that the rain from Spain mostly falls on Newport, we've had a few rainbows.

Day off today as it’s my birthday, which brings me to Glastonbury Tor, clambering up the steep hill only to find the actual footpath once I got to the top!

Going to pop to the village next, and maybe a spot of lunch and see if the old bookshop is still here, as I think I need more books

Happy birthday Jaws

I have banned myself from choosing new bedding for myself, following my recent purchase of these ‘70s curtains’ throwbacks with turquoise sheets.

Won't need to turn the light on!

Having a quiet pint today, and remembering my step-father, Stan, who drifted away from this Mortal Coil 13 years ago.

I’m sure he’d be ok with it.

Also up on the review list is Lifelines: Searching for Home in the Mountains of Greece by the fantabulous @julianhoffman.bsky.social which I've been very much looking forward to reading.

Reading mood has returned, with #bookreviews on the way. Next up are Brightening from the East by Ken Worpole, which is looking very intriguing, & We Came by Sea by Horatio Clare. Many thanks to Gracie at @littletollerbooks.bsky.social for allowing me to review these.

I’ve just discovered that this is adjustable. I’ve gotten through 4 cruet sets in the past two years.

One of the last remaining standing stones at Gray Hill, Chepstow. The circle is, allegedly, older than Stonehenge, which is possible.

I visited here for the first time in 2021, intending to return. I should probably get around to that.

6 years since finally publishing The Pilgrim

When I started, I had no support and went without food to pay for it, but I made some wonderful new friends.

The moral of the story is that if someone says you’re not capable of achieving something, tell that person to go to hell and do it anyway! ⬇️

Currently enjoying a few days in Lisbon where, so far, I’ve learned about exploration, exploitation and slavery, revolution and King Joseph was a bit of a coward

Remember these bad boys? Aldi Corale Baked Beans, the king of baked beans!

This is probably the last tin in existence. I'm happy to auction off, hoping to raise $44bn so I can buy Twitter and make it a nice place again, although it probably isn't worth that much now!

Can you name these two young faces, without looking it up?

Starting 2025’s music collection with this fine offering from 1955 by Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers. I feel the need to reread some Jack Kerouac now!

Two years later, I'm finally getting around to starting the rewrite on this.

Only 160 pages left to go.

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!

Made it to 25 minutes in, somehow. It’s completely incoherent and an utter mess.

After over 30 years, I thought it was time to upgrade my The Doors albums. I only had 80s reprints previously, so loving this snazzy gatefold of The Soft Parade.

So, last week's adventure saw me riding wonky camels, exploring the Atlas mountains and exploring Marrakech!

This week sees me crocked up with Campa Bacta and confined within the walls of Tomas Towers!

Not quite the same really!

It’s that time of year I dig out the best Halloween film ever!

Unsullied by all that talking and Technicolor jiggery pokery!
