Best thing about autumn is the cooler nights. Means I can go out on the town with my favourite knitwear.

The Changeling on Apple TV+ is the best show airing right now. Pass it on.

Today I learned of the existence of the javelina. A cactus-pig hybrid. Here's one happily flying to its next victim.

I'm a big enjoyer of weird short stories. Got these (and two others in the series) from the horror / weird legend that is Robert Aickman. Look how nice these covers are.

Just finished watching Infinity Pool. Wow, what a wild and crazy ride. It's quite the experience. Weird, horrifying, intriguing, disgusting, shocking. Definitely one to make you think.

Review post No.3 - THE WITNESSES ARE GONE (Joel Lane)

A brilliant dark fiction novella. Every page has something that makes you sit back and think. A story about the lost works of an avant-garde French director whose films effect the reality of the viewer. It's incredible.

Would recommend.

Review post no.2 - THE UNBINDING

A well-executed documentary on the story of a 'haunted' effigy removed from the Catskills. Paranormal specialists take possession of it -- and of something else. This is the story of them dealing with it.

Even as a non-believer, I was entertained. Can recommend.

Review post no.1: SMILE

Decent horror flick. A unique (at least to me) concept executed well. The underlying metaphor for trauma, some genuine creepiness, and a Giallo-esque soundscape all ticked my boxes. A weak 3rd act, as per modern horror, diminished it only a little. Would recommend.

Received these two in the mail today. A fantastic collection of horror authors.

I'm obsessed with a prog-metal band called Wheel. Especially their track 'Fugue.' It's like listening to my own heart beat on repeat:

Today's bookmail: @kristawalshauthor.bsky.social's new series-starter novella, Fury of the Sorceress. If you're looking for a new urban fantasy series, this one promises to be a great one.
