The guy who set up that petition and thanks Elon Musk for his support of it, tells Kay Burley that “2.5 million people can’t be wrong”
Sorry what?

History and reality perform a massive eye roll.
Agreement (particularly with foreign bots) does not turn your opinion into fact.

I have found myself engaging more on X and seeing accounts like Radio Genoa being promoted on my timeline is unbelievably depressing. I have to remind myself that the racist dog whistling on that site is not something that is representative across (in my case the UK) electorate

I have just written a piece on last week's Popular conservative conference and continuing factionalism within the Tory party. If that sounds up your street (you weirdo) Please give it a read! Thank you.
PopCon, NatCon, What’s Next Con?: How factionalism demonstrates the Tories are unserious about governing and planning for life in opposition.
Well, it’s been a while. Two years, in fact. More than enough time to come up with an article idea or three. A lot of things have changed since the last one of these. I have moved home, twice. I now o...

I don't find this surprising. Having been promised the world by Brexiteers, only to find those promises were a pipedream. That and the fact people in rural areas are not immune to the feeling in the UK that we need to move on from Tory governance is creating a noxious combination for rural Tory MPS.

I disagree with the idea he was run of the mill. His initial appeal early on was he gave a business-like, competent face to right-wing populist movement that is the modern Tory party. That's been lost now as his inadequacies have been laid bare to the without a Johnson or Truss to take the flak.
Sunak seemed a fairly run-of-the-mill conservative when he came to power. It transpires that he is a moral vacuum. There is simply no floor to his behaviour. There is no depth he will not plunge iandunt.substack.com/p/brianna-gh...

When I look across the pond I am always faced with two facts.

1. Extreme partisanship is antithetical to democracy, a system built on compromise.

2. You cannot compromise with ideological zealots.

Two points, seemingly contradictory. But must be settled by those who want to protect democracy.
Exactly right.

Biden set records for deportations and the right is still screaming that we have "open borders."

Stop trying to meet these psychos halfway.
There is no amount of increasing border enforcement or deporting people that will ever make the American right wing believe the border is being properly handled by a democratic president. Any compromise on this is just a signal that they can demand more & keep the issue live. Immoral, bad politics.

First post on here as an X refugee. Now I have another place to post political opinions, and just general hot takes about whatever has taken up my bandwidth at any given time!
