I made you a visualization of crime in US cities around the size of DC. I don't see a crisis or high crime in D.C. Do you? I'm not asking for martial law in Denver, Detroit, and Memphis. But those seem to be the problem spots if any. Right?

I am just starting to formally grapple with the reality that most people are mediocre. For example, most people (by definition 60% of people) habitually scored between the 20th and the 80th percentile in school (nuance/deconstruction welcome). I have never heard any discussion about this fact.

Pope Francis was unlike anything I thought I could expect. He lived differently, dressed differently, traveled differently, spoke differently, and will be buried differently. I bless the name of Pope Benedict who retired (!) so that their church and the world could be blessed by this unique leader.

As the right has long been pedantic to remind us, this is not a democracy, it's a republic. The law is above the will of the people. Federal employees must defy any order from 47 that violates the law irrespective of any mandate 47 may be imagined to have.
