4. Are there reasons why mediocrity is taboo in America? Could it have something to do with our immigrant history? I am presuming that immigrants by nature are not the most mediocre of people. Something else?

1. Has anybody thought long and hard about this?
2. Do childhood variations even out as people eventually mature?
3. What does the vast mediocre throng look like? And does society work for the mediocre? I think by definition that if it does not, we are on thin ice.
