Nahuel Herrera is a player I'm liking the look of. A proper defender's defender - sniffs out danger, physically robust, quick across the ground, strong personality.

Might not be "cultured" enough for a top team yet, but sides that have a lot of defending to do should be taking a look

Villa linked to young LASK centre back Modou Keba Cissé.

A quick look at his radar on Statsbomb looks promising

5. Luca Regiardo (Newell's)

Newell's have not had a great start to the season but Regiardo has been one of the few bright spots. Dynamism to play further forward and has shown good personality and maturity. Along with Silvetti and Acuña, La Lepra have some real talent

4. Camilo Rey Domenech (Boca Jnrs)

Probably the most well-known of the list and someone I've been following for a couple of years. Kind of went under the radar after missing out on U17 World Cup and U20 Sudamericano but, alongside Milton Delgado, looks a real promise
March 20, 2025 at 8:28 PM
3. Facundo Di Biasi (Gimnasia LP)

The type of deep-lying midfielder who likes to get on the ball and set the rhythm. Calm, recycles possession well but can also hit line-breaking passes. Good shield defensively too. Looks like el Lobo have their Miramon replacement
March 20, 2025 at 8:27 PM
2. Agustin Medina (Lanús)

The 18-year-old ripped it up for the Reserves last year and has made the step up look easy. Good on the ball, shows plenty of personality in the build up, and quick to recover possession. Can also fill in at centre back if needs be.
March 20, 2025 at 8:27 PM
1. Leonel Pérez (Huracán)

Not to be confused with ex-Sunderland and Cambridge Utd's French goalkeeper, Pérez has quickly become a pillar of his side. Huracán usually very defensively solid and he's ensured that no end. Young revelation of the season so far?

Vélez has got off to a stinking start to the year but Alvaro Montoro has really stood out. Silky skills, massively one-footed dribbles, and an absolute fearlessness...what's not to love!

Ecuador have a great recent record of producing centre backs and Deinner Ordóñez might be the next in line 🇪🇨

Just 15 and understandably VERY raw, but not looking massively out of place against players up to five years his senior at the Sudamericano U20

Andrés García is giving me Gladiator-era Joaquin Phoenix #avfc

Some real talent in the Uruguay U20 squad. Helguera, Peralta, Lavega, Machado, Petit & Montero (yes, son of Paolo) all standouts.

Looking forward to seeing more of Pacifico, Severo & Barbas too.

Independiente Juniors - IDV's de facto reserve team - have appointed 29-year-old Joe Armas as manager.

Did impressive work at Imbabura and definitely an interesting young coach to look out for

Argentina's final Sudamericano Sub20 squad announced.

No Anselmino but well stocked at centre back with Giménez and Ramirez. Shame that there is no Santiago Lopez or Dylan Aquino but lots of exciting attacking talent. Midfield the only area that looks a little bit short of depth

Catching up on the first few games of the Copinha and pleased to see Dell get off the mark for Bahia.

Only 16 and recently signed a contract to 2027, if he continues to light things up, a big move wouldn't surprise me

Colombia's squad for the Sudamericano U20 announced. Looking forward to see more of #avfc's Yeimar Mosquera. Oscar Perea and Jordan Barrera will be big draws too
January 3, 2025 at 3:57 PM
Keeping a close eye on Alejandro Severo. Finished the year in great form and should play a decent role for Uruguay U20s in 2025.

Racing Montevideo developing some interesting talent in recent years (e.g. Mouriño, Nandin). Severo could be next

Super strong Argentina "pre-selection" for the U20 Sudamericano, with lots from the squad that got to the U17 World Cup semis.

Hopefully there won't be any withdrawals, although it might help some of Placente's selection headaches

10. Dylan Aquino (Lanus)

After a season slowly being integrated into the first team, the classy attacking midfielder will surely play a bigger role for the Sudamericana semi-finalists. Will also be interesting to see which of Gonzalez or Ontivero at LB steps up after Soler's inevitable departure
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
9. Mateo Silvetti

'Toto' may not last the January transfer window at Newell's, but I hope we get to see at least another six months of the exciting striker before he departs. Excellent ball striker, powerful, quick feet. Top talent. Shout out for Valentino Acuña too.
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
8. Lautaro Vargas (Unión)

Forward thinking full back/wing back who was low key impressive. Still raw but has the attributes to become a useful player, either at a higher level in Argentina or a mid-level league abroad. Argentina in need of RBs so worth keeping tabs
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
7. Santino Andino (Godoy Cruz)

19-year-old winger break through in the second half of 2024 but will look to establish himself as a top young talent. Direct, good 1v1, exciting player who will get plenty of room to develop.
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
6. Juan Giménez (Rosario Central)

Another obvious/safe shout but I'm looking forward to seeing the young centre back kick on ever further (ditto Tobias Ramirez). Another who looks to have all the qualities European sides would look for.
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
5. Matías Gómez (Talleres)

Another interesting midfield prospect to keep an eye on. Missed most of last year with an ACL but was attracting attention before that. Good physical and technical profile, could catch a few people by surprise in 2025.
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
4. Elian Irala (San Lorenzo)

Perhaps already established for this list but feel like 2025 where he'll get his flowers. Hard-working pitbull of a midfielder with good technique. Doubt he'll still be in Argentina this time next year
December 23, 2024 at 10:07 PM
3. Maher Carrizo (Vélez)

It was a sensation year for El Fortín, capped with a deserved league title. Thiago Fernandez was the breakout star but bleach-blonde forward Carrizo looks to be the next off the production line.
