France literally can't keep a government in place?
tomscocca.bsky.social
OK but the guy who bought Twitter definitely has a busted brain
tomscocca.bsky.social
Couldn't be simpler to reconcile the two! Just assume the brain staffs up with its mature functions on a last hired, first fired basis.

I need Everyone’s Brain Is Damaged by Covid Thought to merge with Everyone Behaves Like They’re 12 Thought
tomscocca.bsky.social
Yeah I had exactly that thought, and it was the lead brains bungling covid policy!
tomscocca.bsky.social
Still waiting for a more efficient explanation of everything than "Everyone got brain damage from Covid": the airline executives charging a $155 predatory premium for legroom, the guy deciding to customize his own flight experience, the chain of command aborting the whole flight—busted mind-traffic!
kashhill.bsky.social
This is absolutely wild. I’m on a cross country flight. We are being diverted midway through to Denver. The reason? Some dude is sitting in the exit row who didn’t pay the $155 fee and he refuses to move back to his seat.

Also they dumped the paper on the stoop in the rain without a bag

The endless circular inside deals where the AI and chips industries keep paying each other the same money may look bad, but let's listen to the informed perspective Washington D.C. brings to the question www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
Screenshot of text:

In Washington, some have adopted a laissez-faire attitude to all the activity in a sector viewed as vital to competing with geopolitical rival China. “It’s up to them,” White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks told Bloomberg on Monday. “We want American companies to be successful.” The Trump administration, for its part, is also connected to the sprawling web of AI investments through its stake in Intel Corp., not to mention its plans to take a cut of Nvidia and AMD’s chip sales to China.

Seems like the straightforward flipside of when big-time college coaches go the NBA and discover there's no such thing as a legacy program or a class of five-star recruits (and also that grown adults don't hustle harder if they yell at them)
tomscocca.bsky.social
Can testify it was happening long before The Big Lebowski, in the Barton Fink era. When the Kahlua ran out we just poured vodka in milk and called it a "Boris Yeltsin."

If I wanted to read thin-skinned and tedious people berating each other about Bluesky I’d just go to X dot Com

All I know about this situation is somebody named “Jay” has been clogging up my feed all weekend with Main Character clowning, feels like the mods could clean this up

It's not just that they're going to strike down a law against conversion therapy, it's that they're going to do it on behalf of made-up claims from a straw plaintiff who can't honestly show the law affected her at all

One thing about American's widespread distrust and disapproval of the Supreme Court is that mainstream news coverage mostly doesn't dwell on stuff like standing, so people don't even begin to grasp how rigged the Court truly is www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...

The joke is that it's a somewhat more obvious fake than the obvious fakery so now there's even more fakery on the stream but now "both sides are doing it" or w/e, nicely done
tomscocca.bsky.social
Sorry, doing ironic fakery about somebody using a mass media platform to do fakery is like doing ironic racism

This is the weirdest fucking fact-check; what she said afterward was the exact same idea only much much worse!

It was a joke; NYT excerpt going around is misleading
dandrezner.bsky.social
There’s a lot in Bari Weiss’ 2023 FedSoc speech that merits scrutiny but I think the Times did a disservice by closing with this quote — given what she says immediately after. fedsoc.org/commentary/f...

its funny how not a single actual journalist has been like, “actually she’s good at journalism”
tomscocca.bsky.social
The joke was that she was willing to overlook bigotry against her personally for the sake of lower taxes, but seriously she was willing to overlook bigotry against her personally for the sake of larger bigotries she supports
