Today, I joined residents, partners, and the Misericordia Heartzingers Choir to light our annual holiday tree. Thank you to Brookfield Zoo, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and our incredible County workforce for making this celebration shine.

Built in 1960, the facility was in need of modernization—this year, Cook County partnered with Park Forest through our Build Up Cook program to support these community-identified needs. Now, the facility has an exceptional training environment to support the Southland's firefighters.

Today, we unanimously passed the Cook County FY2026 budget, one that stands with our people & values. I am proud of what we accomplished & grateful to all of our Commissioners, Bureau Chiefs, staff & partners whose work was instrumental in bringing Cook County to such a stable financial position.

In Cook County, we've always believed every person deserves access to justice & essential services, regardless of immigration status. Cook County will use every tool at our disposal - legal, legislative & administrative - to push back against unlawful federal actions & to safeguard our residents.
