As with so much, context and situations matter. The word "should" is tricky: parents might think their lesbian daughter should be straight...or their trans child be gendered as what the child was assigned at birth.

I'd think that if the writing is spectacular and the story is gripping, an agent will forgive a misplaced comma or other typo. Just as if someone's telling me a fascinating story, I'd overlook a mispronounced word. Just focus on rewarding the agent's attention. #WritingCommunity #writing #agents

"Save the kittens" is pretty high stakes. I'd say low stakes would be "burn the dinner I'm preparing to impress my fiancé's parents."

My stakes are generally "Change the trajectory of the character's life. So the reader can judge how serious that is...
