I know there's still days left in this year, but a 2026 New Years Resolution is for me to definitely See More Things

Watch more movies. Catch that TV show a friend raves about. Listen to the oodles of albums I've been grabbing. Tackle that goddamn gaming backlog.

Fairly achievable goal tbh

A couple days ago, me and my partner did some thrifting and I found some interesting stuff:

- A Flubber CD-ROM press kit
- The soundtracks to The Departed and Reservoir Dogs
- A DVD of Tom Wilson (Back to the Future)'s stand up special, autographed

Love when I find just the wildest stuff.

Installing a recent game and realizing I was running low on space.

Then I find out that I have amassed a Podcast backlog that's 2 1/2 years behind and taking up 97GB on my SSD.

I have since moved it to my storage HDD because hey, I need that 97GB! It could be used up by more games!

Thinking a bit more about the stupid Ian Bogost discourse

Over this past year I've been wanting to tackle genres I don't play often, just to diversify what I play

I think it's important to broaden one's horizons, if only to better understand why people like stuff rather than outright dismissing it

hey Ian, it's 2025, not 2005.

You're not getting any street cred these days by blindly trashing a genre, dude
Q-Up and Candy Crush, say, are more serious works of game than Horses (which seems fine and even innocuous!) or whatever embarrassing anime RPG trash is on Steam or Nintendo EShop.

A recent skeet about the wrong CD in the drive of a Windows 95 PC game reminded me of how great Red Book CD audio was and the article I wrote about it all those years ago

Still find it fun despite I know how impractical it would be now

A Tribute to Red Book CD audio. - You Found a Secret Area!
When it comes to video games, CDs were a god damn revelation back in the day. Before then, people were developing games on cartridges that barely held a few megabytes. CDs, on the other hand, held up ...

On this day 175 years ago, the first edition of The Oregonian hit the streets of Portland.

If all had gone to plan, the newspaper would have celebrated its 175th anniversary last month. But when its printing press never arrived, Dryer suspected sabotage!
