The institutions of the American economy depend on the institutions of American democracy; rule of law, consistent regulation, stability, and all the rest.

That’s what’s being destroyed and that’s what risks the *entire economy.

Saying that out loud shouldn’t (and can’t) be a risk
The whole thing is important, but listen until the end: the US depends a lot on the flow of capital into the country because it is perceived as the safest port in a storm. Once that is no longer true, a lot of things Americans take for granted go away.
A top economics reporter goes off script on national TV: “I am going to say this at risk of my job, but what President Trump is doing is insane.”

Age and cognitive skills: Use it or lose it

Individuals with above-average skill usage at work and home on average never face a skill decline. If they have above-median skill usage, but not if skill usage is below the median.

YouTube's been great... but it also scares me.

As a kind of 'RAID 1' for my video content, I'm also on Floatplane now (floatplane.com/channel/Jeff...).

Here's more on why—and a sort-of celebration of 500 videos over 18 years on my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0jw...

Huge shout out to @jeffgeerling.com for creating an easy to follow Network UPS Tools (NUT) and HomeAssistant guide. I just completed a plugs out test on my UPS and server rack, and all 10 nodes (including two that I needed to build custom shutdown scripts) all powered off when UPS hit low battery 🤗

I made a new mounting bracket for the batteries in the bulldozer. The hooks were made from quarter inch stainless steel rod, threaded with a 1/4-20 die on the lathe and then heated to cherry red and bent over in the vise to make the hook.

Research and best practice says you *shouldn’t* rotate passwords frequently, but your password *should* be like a marriage: long, unique, and not shared promiscuously!
Passwords are like underwear: change them often, don’t share them, and if you can’t remember the last time you changed them, it’s probably time!

Regarding spouses, husbands and partners, same thing.

Is it worth 20 MINS a day to proactively recruit and bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, businesses, anyone who is or could be a user, to @bsky.app?

If Bluesky ends up with more users than the others, you destabilize musk, zuck, trump.
