Humanist, mensch, husband-to-my-husband, father & friend. Love nature, architecture, travel, world history, books, food, wine & craft beer. So fortunate to live in beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns in cool, quirky Asheville, NC (AVL). Follow mostly ppl in AVL/NC.
Sour beers can taste like ciders, but if it isn't a fermented beer (made from hops, barley, malt, wheat, et al) to start with, if it is made instead from fermented apples, then it seems like it's a cider. But as you say, all that really matters in the end is if you like the taste.

I think we as a culture are way to wrapped up in gender roles. Let's focus on raising good, honest, caring, productive human beings & worry a lot less about if they are conforming to some arbitrary or at least arguable set of gender roles.

Well, I'd agree with about 1/2 of what he says. But WTF does it mean: "if men aren’t economically viable, that’s when the problems start". Can't those men deal with some women earning more or being more successful than them? Are women who aren't "economically viable" somehow better able to cope?

Maybe St. Karoline, Patron Saint of Propaganda, was contrasting US citizenship with green cards & other permanent or temporary resident statuses, all of which can be relatively easily revoked.

Golden Age! Although Shillbilly Vance (remember him?) is saying it'll still take some more time before the Golden Age really arrives.

Anyone care to bet whether the tRump regime will hand out those $2K tariff rebate checks oh let's say late summer or early fall of 2026?
December 3, 2025 at 7:12 PM
We'll see. Even if that happens, it couldn't come soon enough. Nov. 2026 will be the litmus test as to whether the end of this nightmare for America is actually in sight.

Kosplay Kristi & her ICE paramilitary soldiers, although Pete Kegseth & Barbie Bondi are close behind. RFK and his pet brainworm may cause a lot of damage longer-term.

He's absolutely not dozing off! It's just much easier to visualize all the complex 3D chess moves he's strategizing about if he closes his eyes & goes into the Mind Palace of the King (trademark pending).

May her memory remain in your heart & your head.

Hospice workers in my experience are a special kind of person. They understand that death is a key stage of life & they honor & respect that. I once thought it must weigh on them, but I think hospice workers know what they do has so much worth.

Hey, we gotta provide those tax cuts for the rich. Just like Jesus wouldn't have wanted it, right Mike Johnson?

Costco submitted initial plans for the old Enka factory site in Asheville. City of Asheville Technical Review Committee met on Nov 17 to discuss the project. It will require further approval from the Planning & Zoning Commission & the City Council, which could take a few months & a year to build.

Looks yummy! I made sweet potato cornbread muffins over the weekend with leftovers from Thanksgiving. I think sweet potatoes are generally underappreciated, although lots of restaurants around Asheville seem to make good use of them throughout the year. And I love Patti LaBelle's sweet potato pies!

Yeah, not being a linguist (cunning or otherwise), when the word came to mind as I was writing the post, I looked up the origin. I thought it might have something to do with Rumi, given meditation, contemplation, etc. But it doesn't. It's from the Latin word ruminare: to chew the cud, as a cow does.

Wait, she forgot to add "Just as Jesus would have done."

If terrorists (alone) in a small plane were about to fly it into a building, that's an example IMO of a rare case where "terrorism gets a pass on due process" could apply. A hijacked plane full of innocent ppl, that's a moral dilemma. Drug runners out in the ocean in a boat, absolutely not a pass.

Maybe they inserted a corn cob? That's my strawman proposal for the solution to your question.

Or maybe the The Feast of the Seven Gefilte Fishes?

And they'll probably remove her extensions, because they could be used for self-harm when she's in prison.

What no cross today???? Is she finding it increasingly uncomfortable to wear one while spewing forth lies?

Am I the only one who prefers the terms servicemen & servicewomen or soldiers instead of warriors? Glorifying war is never a good thing. Unless you're a pacificist, most ppl would probably agree war is sometimes a necessity, but never something to be celebrated.

And what a good mother she must be!

Her poor kids are all going to end up in some serious therapy down the road.
December 2, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Yes. But my doctor had to go through hoops to get it approved by my insurance & I damn well understood what it was for/what they were analyzing with the MRI.

tRump claiming he didn't know what they scanned with the MRI is reason itself to question whether he's mentally fit to lead the country.
December 2, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Exactly. Even if they were drug traffickers (we have seen no real evidence for that), that's not terrorism posing an immediate threat to America. To use the terrorism cover, intended only for exceptional cases like what happened on 9/11, for small-time drug runners keeps us less safe longer term.
