I do like Bluesky but I can go days or weeks without opening it or posting and I could never do that on Twitter. Maybe I'm just further disengaging from social media, maybe this place doesn't have the sauce, who's to say

Not to be too shady on main but @discord.com adding the 'Ignore' feature so I no longer get notifications or have to read messages of people I don't like saying things in channels I follow is what I've been wanting for YEARS and I am so grateful.

I just want to shout out my gym for that the TVs in front or the treadmills are ESPN (twice) ESPN 2 (twice) and then Pitch Perfect.

do all the android users know that when you switched to texting iphones on RCS your read receipts are on?

Those of you who know me know a lot of my work is in the marching band / drum corps / color guard world. Is that kind of photography too niche for BlueSky? Should I post my band work on BlueSky or just keep it things for a more general audience?

Do people feel no shame getting off a plane standing in the aisle with no sense of urgency taking up so much time when everyone else is waiting for them?

Last post on that other place. Have only been opening it every week or so, but now I'm logged out.

Dark days ahead for this country.

My fever dream is that we should literally have planned communities/cities that can be built on federally owned land along highways. Let people work to live, let people learn how trades are done in the US by doing them in a city they build from the ground up and then get to live in.

One of these days I’ll learn that when someone who averages 0 engagement with their posts responds to me, I should keep their average where it’s at.

"TikTok is good because the algorithm is so good"

yeah well tiktok just showed me the video of someone who I went on one very bad date with 5 years ago and said 'Someone you may know' and maybe I don't want an algorithm THAT good.

My mom: how was I supposed to know you were gay? There were no signs.

Me, 15 years old coming out to her: remember my childhood of singing and dancing along to Shania Twain, The Chicks, and Elton John in the living room every day?

even were I not at work, I wouldn’t be watching or reading about any of today’s events, and you don’t have to, either. fixating on every trick in this dog and pony show will not better prepare you; it will demoralize you and, by extension, make you less useful to yourself and others.

Maybe if this is controversial, but the democratic candidate in ‘28 should run on New Deal nostalgia and entirely re-creating some government agencies and programs that have strayed or corrupted over the decades.
Many Americans who otherwise dislike President-elect Trump share his bleak assessment of the country’s problems and support some of his most contentious ideas to fix them, a New YorkTimes/Ipsos poll found. Read more: nyti.ms/4hhqoAs

There it is, the most powerful new player in the last decade goes away. This ban just brings us closer to a duopoly on the social internet. Bluesky, Twitter, Snapchat, and others hold on to their tiny market shares as independent companies for now. Capitalism working as intended.
Meta, which owns Instagram, and Google, which owns YouTube, have remained relatively quiet in public on what may happen if TikTok is banished from the U.S., but they have been active behind the scenes.

Every time I see a cringe political meme I go to their account to see if that's a lot of what they post and then add them to my cringe meme moderation list. Either me doing this has taught Bluesky that I like to go to accounts like that, or this site is absolutely riddled by people boomerposting.

“Democracy Dies in Darkness” was meant to be a warning of a threat they were fighting against, not something they just change their slogan away from once the wannabe dictator gets back into office.

Traditional media only carries value in the current ecosystem if they can prove to have a spine.

I never bought the switch and kinda regretted it, but if the switch 2 is literally the switch but with a better computer, all black, and with a bigger screen, then I'm sold. I'll get one at launch.
