This book divides the development of China's economic and political systems after 1949 into five stages and provides an analysis. I'm somewhat surprised that it was able to be published normally in mainland China.

刚看完《聋哑时代》,双雪涛的文字比较容易读懂,是我喜欢的风格。这本书好像是在《平原上的摩西》之前,其中的《霍家麟》和《我的朋友安德烈》是同一个故事。

I just finished reading “The Institutional Gene.” This book analyzes the evolution of social institutions in China and introduces the concept of the "institutional gene." Based on “The Selfish Gene,” "institutional meme" might be a more accurate term.

读完了班宇的《逍遥游》,有种迷迷糊糊的感觉。情绪我是体会出来了,可是故事却不怎么精彩。相比之下,《冬泳》还更易读一些。

I‘ve just completed "Beyond the Imperial System". It’s a great book. China has been on this path for over a century, and the journey continues.

I’ve just finished reading ”An Elephant in the Garden“, and it’s a wonderful story. The elephant, the mother, Peter, and the Countess—all of them left a lasting impression on me.

I’ve just completed Charlotte’s Web, and it’s an amazing book. Who could have imagined that a small spider could save a pig? Their friendship is truly captivating.

I’ve read "A Series of Unfortunate Events 2 - The Reptile Room”。 It’s a bit weird and I feel it’s just so-so, just marking it as read。

I've finished 72 books in 2024, almost half in English. I should read more.

I’ve reached the end of "The Answer Is No". It’s a story about something ridiculous, yet undeniably interesting. One intriguing aspect is how love and spite can sometimes work together to solve problems.

“Giant Baby Nation" offers thought-provoking and insightful ideas. However, it appears the author first arrived at conclusions based on intuition and then structured the discussion and analysis around these preconceived conclusions. This method makes the analysis less convincing.

The book ”Number the Stars“ is the best among my recent reads. It was recommended by my daughter. Although it’s written for children, it deeply captivated me as well.

I tried using Obsidian Canvas to write an article today, and it exceeded my expectations. It integrates seamlessly with my other notes, which is better than Milanote. However, the interface and display still fall a bit short. @obsidian.md

I just finished reading A Series of Unfortunate Events #1: The Bad Beginning. The story is engaging, but it lacks some logical consistency. My daughter recommended this book to me—she loves the series. I’m trying to enjoy it, but I still find it a bit challenging.

I recently read an excellent book titled “Why Nations Fail” (Chinese version). It explains how "extractive and inclusive economic institutions" affect a nation's prosperity or poverty. However, I believe the book could be improved with a more in-depth analysis of Russia, Germany, and China.

I’ve tried various note-taking tools, including OneNote, Evernote, Notion, and even Tana. However, Obsidian is my favourite. I’ve been using it for three years, and it’s been great so far. @obsidian.md

Its beauty cannot live without its ugliness. When you saved the tiger, you saved all of him. You saved his graceful beauty—and his fierce, savage nature. You cannot have one without the other.

I’ve finished reading "The Red Gloves and Other Stories". It includes nine short stories, some of which are truly terrifying. My favourites are "The Red Gloves" and "The Changing Room".

I need to read 8 more books to meet my reading goal this year, but there are only 1.5 months left.

I went with my daughter to see Taylor Swift’s concert. Although I’m not very familiar with her, the audio-visual experience of the concert was amazing. The passion of her fans was truly overwhelming. Youth is such a wonderful thing!
