It's actually a kind of unusual moment in history, where women have so much autonomy that they can just choose not to date or marry a guy if they think he sucks, and also there's a huge cohort of men who are completely unprepared for having a partner whose opinion they have to consider.

I also think you can kind of tell where the editors and reporters are coming from when they do an article like this. There's roughly a million people who study sociology, feminism, the politics of dating, &c, but the only expert they could find was a pollster from AEI?
