The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World

One of my favorite ambient albums to let my mind get lost in. It feels like a fuzzy and distant radio transmission from across eras stretching back to the 1920s.

DJ Rashad - Double Cup

The classic album of Chicago footwork. Always gets me moving and dancing.

Grateful Dead: Enjoying the Ride: Oakland

Another show from the boxset since it’s Friday. 1989 but getting closer to the post-1990 shows that I know less and less about. That’ll be fun

I decided to start doing a four mile walk every day when Kaely and I got back from a trip to Hawaii earlier this year. I didn’t like the way I felt and I didn’t feel healthy in my body.

180 days in a row later. It’s been a life-changing thing making this one choice and sticking to it

Grateful Dead: Dick’s Picks Vol 15

Pretty raucous show from ‘77. Perfect 1st set and one of the best Eyes of the World in the second set. From today 48 years ago. A great show to listen to if you’re just starting to listen to the GD

A personal milestone today 180 walks in a row

Hans Zimmer - Dunkirk (OST)

Had the urge for some film score music. I love the work of Hans Zimmer, especially his collaborations with Christopher Nolan on film.

BREAKING: The Pentagon has authorized up to 600 military lawyers to serve as temporary immigration judges.

This is a blatant expansion of military power into a civilian judicial process, a dangerous erosion of the separation between the two.

Every day, we inch closer to fascism.

Jerry Garcia Band - Garcia Live: Vol 19

A pleasant set of songs from 1992. I want to walk with some bliss in my heart this morning. It’s going to be a sunshiney day

Since the Grateful Dead boxset came out earlier this year I’ve been listening to of its shows each Friday. Been a fun habit but I’m within the last few shows. 1989 show sounding good right out of the gate.

I just want lawmakers at every level to pass gun control laws. I don't care if you think they'll survive the Supreme Court's tests. They won't. That's a game you cannot win. Who cares? You have a moral obligation to try; anything less is cowardice. There are honorable defeats.

The War On Drugs - Lost in the Dream

A fantastic exploration of heartland and Americana, and the power of attentive production. One of my absolute favorites.

Qarabağ FK from Azerbaijan defeat Ferencváros to go through to the Champions League proper. The smaller UEFA nations are coming up big this week to make the league phase. You love to see it.

Grateful Dead - Sunshine Daydream

Few can argue this 1972 show was their greatest, and that is saying something. From this day 53 years ago.

Some really out there music to get lost in on my walk today

The Who - Live at The Oval 1971

The ‘Oo were the first band to blow the childhood innocence out of my mind when I heard them. They’re on a farewell tour now and I was lucky to see them many times. I wish I could have also seen them in their windmilling, destructive days

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run

50 years old today and still has ferocity and reckless abandon like The Boss originally intended. No skips front-to-back. A sign post towards punk, a revitalization of raw rock in the face of prog’s lessening momentum.

One of my all-time favorites

I’ve been reading EB Sledge’s memoir on his WWII combat experience on Peleliu and Okinawa. Excruciating to read because of the vivid understanding you’re given of the brutality of warfare.

If you want to reinforce your understanding of why war must be eradicated it’s a must-read
