Note: I am a dork and have kept a top 10 list every year since 2005 and this is the first time since Tri a new Monster Hunter game is not here, and it is usually #1!! I was so hype for Wilds, but it did not grab me at all. I hope the Ultimate DLC fixes it cuz I did enjoy bits of the combat.

1. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

My favorite Kojima game. It is corny and goofy in the most endearing way. It plays well, runs well, looks great, has a large and diverse cast of characters, good music. It seemed like every 15 minutes I ran across some weird thing that ruled. I love delivering!!

2. Satisfactory

I picked up Satisfactory with my wife and it took over our lives for a couple of months. All we could think about was exploring and making conveyer belts more efficient. It also offered enough we could do our own things in the world. 10/10 game for me.

4. Clair Obscur

My favorite RPG in years. Loved the combat, the world, the music, the characters. Overall a great package!! I also loved how all the endings make you feel like total garbage!! More games should be brave and not have a "good" ending, just a bunch of varying subjectively bad ones.

5. 1000xResist

Played this in early Jan and it stuck with me all year. My favorite story of any game on this list by a good margin. Highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for an contemporary Sci-fi story. Only so low cuz I do feel the "gameplay" kind of gets in the way of the story.

6. Blue Prince

Disclaimer is I have not "finished" this game yet (though what that actually entails seems to be subjective), but I have been playing with my best friend and it's been a really great experience. If you have a friend who loves puzzles, try this one as a co-op experience!!

7. Silksong

Another in a line of sequels I thought were good but not as-good as their predecessors. I loved this game a lot for acts 1-2. I liked the difficulty, the enemy design, the varied weapons and the world. I did not like Act 3 and think it actively made my opinion of it lower.

8. Hades 2

I really liked Hades 2. I thought the weapons were cool and the progression was a bit more fun than Hades I. I also vibed with a lot of the characters more, and thought the setup was fun. Somehow it did not get it's claws into me like Hades I though, and I didn't play much past the "end"

9. Donkey Kong Bananza

I really liked this game and honestly wanted to like it more. It felt like it had a little too much going on and was a little too long. I was not compelled to do everything like I was with Odyssey, but I think it's a very cool creative direction for an older Nintendo IP.

10. Peak

TBH I only played Peak a little bit, and recently, but it was a really enjoyable few hours with friends. I hope to play more in the future.

Was thinking about this I’m very into kocchi no kento’s new song, Pickles, which is all about part time service jobs and even my partner couldn’t really relate when I shared it with her youtu.be/MlTV8OKvWh8?...

It’s a good song give it a listen, and the music video is cool too

It’s interesting to me as working was not weird in my hometown. All my friends worked in high school. I got my first job through a friend.

But for a lot of these folks I work with now that went to top tier universities they find it weird and interesting that I didn’t go to kumon and study everyday

I remember when I first moved to Chengdu and line 2 had just opened. Now it looks like line of 13 would have brought me from my home to my favorite hot pot place directly!
