People need to stop with the “we’re not even gonna HAVE elections!” and start planning how they’re going to show up to defend their local elections from maga shenanigans, including ICE attempting to scare people from going to the polls.

Status quo bias, sunk cost fallacy, loss aversion… Some of us believe that by pressuring electeds they’ll find the courage to do better or new ones will rise up. Others are so afraid of losing what they know, they defend a losing position rather than pushing for something better.

Dan’s office could have asked for clarification if “offensive texts from owendoff” wasn’t enough to take it seriously. They could have taken the phone call rather than just give a canned “I talk to everyone” statement. Instead he lied and has still said nothing about his association with Owendoff.

He had a very reasonable option in front of him, to just say “wow that’s atrocious, I’ll no longer be taking Mr. Owendoff’s calls,” and instead he chose a “don’t rank Dan Ryan” campaign. Weird choice but if you insist, my guy.

Europe will start investing in nukes in a decreasingly stable world and we’ll tick closer to midnight. It might not cause America to implode but it will make us less safe (not to mention Ukraine and Taiwan).
