seriously dudes
i don't even know why i'm raising this here because i know i'm going to get a hundred replies of "Trump has god powers that will let him do whatever he wants and thus we have no choice but to bend to his will," but for those of you capable of complex thought, these are questions to ask yourself.

For when they tell you ICE can be reformed if they just have more training
NEW: Jonathan Ross is former National Guard and Border Patrol and has been part of ICE's SWAT equivalent, a team leader overseeing FBI, ATF, and IRS agents, and a firearms instructor, according to testimony obtained by WIRED. This is from @hudsongiles.bsky.social and me:
ICE Agent Who Reportedly Shot Renee Good Was a Firearms Trainer, Per Testimony
Jonathan Ross told a federal court in December about his professional background, including “hundreds” of encounters with drivers during enforcement actions, according to testimony obtained by WIRED.

The last statement from the defendant a jury will hear is him calling his victim a "fucking bitch" as he films her car crashing.
🚨 NEW VIDEO 👇🏽This puts an end to all the lies. Horrific.

They were having a calm exchange seconds before he murdered Renee Good, and she was barely moving and clearly avoiding him.

Stop the lies.

ICE shot a legal observer in the face in Minneapolis. Abolish ICE and prosecute every single one of their deputized terrorists.

I knew it was wrong then, but what I didn’t understand was that I was about to watch hundreds of thousands of civilians—and thousands of my peers who were shipped off to foreign soil—be killed, maimed, and horrifically traumatized, all for the low price of $8 trillion.

Regime change the USA.

cool okay well we’ll hang onto the frog costumes and next time you need to look like a pathetic loser just let us know
Trump announces he’s pulling the National Guard from Portland, LA, and Chicago but threatens that “We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again - Only a question of time!”

The democratic coalition is either going to reform as an anti-corruption workers’ movement or it’s going to lose forever.
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol made $95 million last year. His workers are striking for the bare minimum. Glad to be on the right side of the picket line with them.

And with the City of Portland sitting on millions in unused funds that could be used, among other straightforward things, to keep people facing emergencies and tragedies in their homes. Oh, and a mayor obsessed with cots.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

Okay, if the GOP is suddenly onboard with releasing the Epstein files, now do this one.

Haunt your congressional representatives’ phone lines and dreams until it’s all laid bare, my friends.
Great news that the Senate has passed the bill forcing the DOJ to release its Epstein file. Now Bondi must comply. But our work cannot stop there. We need to force the Treasury to release the Epstein bank records too. I have a bill to make that happen. FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Journalists: I’m begging you to have a response to this. I’m begging you to demand your employers have a response to this.

To hell with access. This is a threat.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

in light of sandwich guy I am contractually obligated to remind you that jurors can always prevent a conviction by choosing to say "not guilty" 🙂

the power to refuse to convict is espech important rn given the Trump admin's rampant criminalization and repression of dissent (and other freedoms, too)
today in news that makes me say 'wait I have something for this'

specifically p. 203-207 of The Originalism Trap, where I discuss jury nullification

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the sandwich artists who prepare the sandwiches, and the attorneys who defend the right to wield them. These are their stories.
Defense is now questioning Lairmore on cross-examination. They show a video still of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground, post-throw.

"Do you recognize that sandwich?" the attorney asks.

Lairmore won't confirm.

"I did not go back to collect it," he says.
