I'm honored to accept this award from MWELA. We worked hard for the $7.25M jury verdict last year in Goodrum v. City of Alexandria. And while I'm the loud one who tends to get credit, it was really Katie's work throughout the case that got the job done.

Based on open source news reporting and FOIA documents procured by the ACLU, we have updated our ICE Warehouse Tracker to include formerly closed detention centers that ICE is looking at reopening. Those now show up as purple pins on the map.

United States Senator Mark Kelly, a retired naval officer, has been censured by
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth for voicing certain opinions on military actions and
policy. In addition, he has been subjected to proceedings to possibly reduce his retirement
rank and pay and threatened with criminal prosecution if he continues to speak out on these
issues.
Secretary Hegseth relies on the well-established doctrine that military
servicemembers enjoy less vigorous First Amendment protections given the fundamental
obligation for obedience and discipline in the armed forces. Unfortunately for Secretary
Hegseth, no court has ever extended those principles to retired servicemembers, much less a retired servicemember serving in Congress and exercising oversight responsibility over

Portland is a stronger and more just city bc of @candaceavalos.bsky.social work on community led accountability for police. The work only continues but this landmark is so heartening. Portland is lucky to have these leaders!

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.
