“Concentration camps involve the mass detention of civilians without due process on the basis of political, racial, ethnic, or religious identity. And that is where we’re at right now.”
Sobering words on the current horror, from @andreapitzer.bsky.social
I wrote about how concentration camp regimes evolve and why it's not too late to stop this, even though we are deep in it now.

I ❤️ SF and this poem by a 17 year old girl:

“In a city that shelters the uncommon, that gathers what the world lets go; Claude became its living emblem, proof that care can let things grow.”

This is the kind of shit that would make you completely outside the bounds of any ancient society, the gods bestow generational curses for violating hospitality
A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.

The Trump admin is moving to quickly deport two men who witnessed, they say, ICE guards choke a fellow detainee to death.

The admin moved to deport men right after they spoke the Washington Post.

This is the death that the medical examiner has already ruled likely homicide.

No one “deserves” to be shot in the face.

No one “deserves” to be maimed or killed for protesting.

No one “deserves” to be killed for their political views, immigration status or failure to comply.

No one “deserves” this. Period.

Stop shooting people in the face.

It’s easy to watch the news and feel overwhelmed or even helpless at everything going on. I need you to fight that feeling.

I’m an optimist. You have to be when you strap yourself to a rocket for a living. But there’s real reason to be hopeful this year and l’ll tell you why.

I love when you tell people how terrible Newsom is, they're always like, "Well, it's nice to have ideals, but if it comes down to him or the Nazi in the general, *I* am going to vote for him"

WE'RE TELLING YOU HOW TERRIBLE HE IS NOW SO IT'S *NOT* A CHOICE BTW HIM & A NAZI, CARL. THAT'S THE POINT.

Portland kept it weird with inflatable costumes

Chicago protected its street vendors by buying up their food each day

Charlotte chased ICE agents into the woods

This is good news. Voters should never have to choose between our privacy and our right to participate in our democracy.
