ChatGPT gave a significant portion of my students the wrong answer to an easy quiz question that everyone used to always get right

I had two groups of students turn in annotated bibliographies that were ChatGPT generated - not a single citation actually existed

This article heavily implies that ICE is being used in a custody dispute to help Karoline Leavitt's brother get his son and have the mother locked up in ICE detention
"A woman with a family connection to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Revere, Massachusetts."

🧵 Sadly, this doesn't surprise me in the least

Lots of stories about social media execs not allowing their kids to use it. Tobacco & junk food executives famously don't use their own products

Most of these companies use strategies designed to increase consumption of products they know are harmful
A Campbell Soup VP is on leave after secret recording appears to show him mocking 'poor' customers, '3D-printed chicken'
An audio recording shows an apparent Campbell soup executive insulting company products, making racist comments, and claiming the meat is 3D-printed.

NEW — South Shore residents who still live in the apartment building that was raided by ICE nearly two months ago in Chicago spoke out about the unlivable conditions there.

You can only consider it a failure if you buy the sales pitch of DOGE - which at best is a naive take

The goal was never to reduce government waste and fraud, and for a Dem strategist to be pushing that rhetoric says much more about the state of the party than it does about DOGE's supposed failure
DOGE is one of the greatest failures of the Trump administration. The next Democratic administration should pick up that issue and actually work to cut government waste, fraud, and abuse. I’d suggest starting by taking a look at Elon Musk’s government contracts.

As someone who studies social movements and also enjoys a good protest, I am absolutely loving the different flavors of resistance popping up as ICE targets various parts of the US. Salt isn't the only way to melt ICE 😉
“YeeHawFuckTheLaw” trending because NC folks keep running ICE into the woods is exactly the kind of Appalachian abolitionist energy I didn’t know I needed 😭🔥

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

I know more people who have been sexually assaulted and/or harassed than people who have not - and with 81% of women and 43% of men reporting at least one incident of abuse, odds are you do, too

What this whole Epstein files saga has shown us is that despite the deep and bitter political divide within our country, a sad and sobering common denominator exists among all Americans—so many people have suffered sexual abuse.

THIS IS BIG

For non-academics who might not understand why:
1. Sen. Warren is still a Harvard professor so this is a call coming from inside the house
2. As a tenured law prof, Warren knows it is a VERY big deal from a labor standpoint to call on Harvard to ignore tenure. The bar for this is HIGH.
Per CNN, Elizabeth Warren is calling on Harvard to cut ties with Larry Summers after Jeffrey Epstein's emails released last week by House Dems featured Summers making sexist comments + asking for Epstein’s romantic advice.

I've lived in numerous cities, so I'm no stranger to the oddities one occasionally encounters in the course of urban life

But this is bizarre:

A solitary candle in a jar in the alley, sitting on the brick road. Lit - not battery operated, real flame. Nobody in sight

I have so many questions

It would be helpful if people who didn't know what they were talking about didn't open their uninformed mouths.
Genuinely curious as to why Wu and others who argue along these lines are surprised that pro-Israel politics are on the back-foot in the United States.

A great piece by Jermaine Fowler

I would add that our "immigration crisis" directly stems from our military invasions & extractive activities in Latin America. Our unending quest to feed corporate hunger creates the very conditions that leads people to flee their countries to preserve their lives
