I visited Toronto’s Central Ambulance Communications Centre, the heartbeat of our medical 9-1-1 response. Thanks to increased hiring across all emergency services, 9-1-1 call response times are now 70% faster. Faster care when it matters most. When someone calls 9-1-1 for a medical emergency, police receive and assign the call first. Then medical call takers step in, guiding you through those first urgent moments while dispatchers send help. It takes incredible coordination between teams, and resources.Huge gratitude to the Emergency Medical Call Takers, Dispatchers, Senior EMDs, trainers, support staff, and leaders who make this possible.
